Real Wedding Greg and Troy

Greg and Troy’s whirlwind romance started with agreeing to brunch for their first date. However, brunch quickly turned into lunch, and a new relationship had begun amidst the conversation and coffee (which ended up amounting to 15 cups between the pair).

 
After a year together, whilst high above the treetops in the rainforest between Cairns and Kuranda, a proposal was made on the sky rail. Greg and Troy’s engagement lasted for three years while they anxiously waited for the rest of Australia to also say “Yes”. On the 30th of June, 2018, Greg and Troy exchanged vows at their waterfront classic-style wedding at The Pavilion with Eighty-five guests witnessing the couple tying the knot in a ceremony full of intimate moments and laughter.

 
   
   

The Marina, Mindarie proved to be the prefect waterside wedding location and catered to everything Greg and Troy needed for their big day. The Pavilion’s Sky Chapel floating high above the marina was the perfect mirror to their engagement above the rainforest. The venue boasted exceptional views of the marina, and floor-to-ceiling windows at the reception continued the high-flying vibe. 

Reflecting on the day, Troy said, “Holding our wedding ceremony out on the Sky Chapel, with that picturesque backdrop, was absolutely the best choice we could have made. Likewise, the Pavilion was exactly what we were hoping for, particularly the view as the sun set!”


Greg & Troy's and their guests enjoyed exquisite catering and drinks service throughout the night, with some guests even commenting that it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding.

Canapes 
  • Pork belly bites. 
  • Charred mushroom & zucchini topped with tapenade in lettuce leaf. 
  • Pulled beef on grilled truffle infused polenta. 

Entrée 
  • Vine plum tomato soup. 
  • Roast cherry tomatoes with pesto, gnocchi and parmesan.  

Main 
  • Beef tenderloin with dauphinoise potato, confit shallot and seasonal greens with shiraz reduction. 
  • Chicken breast wrapped in cured ham Butternut squash puree, seasonal greens and confit shallots. 

Dessert 
  • Sticky date pudding Butterscotch sauce and vanilla bean ice cream with strawberry

 
 

As the couple made the most of their all-inclusive venue (hosting their ceremony, reception and accommodation all in one place), Greg and Troy were able to focus on what really mattered: sharing their special day with friends and family. Greg & Troy'd were treated to a complementary stay overnight at The Marina Hotel as well as reduced rates for wedding guests- keeping the party going all weekend long!

They are now looking forward to a lifetime of love together, reliving memories of their big day, which they describe as “simply perfect”.
